The Poster to Poster series is a nine-volume definitive collection of British railway posters which showcases many of the railway posters from the National Railway Museum at York and other museums and galleries. Each volume is a mixture of travel documentary, geographical and historical study, graphic artists' reference and poster database - all interlinked using the central theme of railway posters.
Volume 3 starts by visiting central England before we head in south Wales and finish the journey at the north end of Cardigan Bay. We begin in Staffordshire and visit Derbyshire, Nottingham, Leicester and Northamptonshire in the first two chapters. Then it is to the southern extremity of the journey in Buckinghamshire before turning north into Oxford and Warwickshire. The English portion finishes with the western Counties of Shropshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire but the final two chapters cover the Welsh part of the journey. With a Foreword by Dr Pete Waterman.
‘Whilst the railway took me on a physical journey from A to B, the railway poster took my mind on a journey of a different kind and I absolutely loved them… and the railway posters in this volume are excellent. If you haven’t read volumes 1 and 2, then I can thoroughly recommend them.’ Dr Pete Waterman
‘Brilliant. So much info both visual and text. Brought back a lot of nostalgic memories, e.g. hols when young.’ N. J. Aylmer-Brewin
‘A great book, beautifully illustrated and a pleasure to enjoy. My husband loved it and I would recommend this volume to anyone who loves Railway Posters.’ Anoushka
